Winslow Studio collaborated with artist Hueman on a commissioned project for Mabrie Facial Institute's office in San Francisco, CA. Together, they brainstormed and defined the animation direction, creating custom content to augment Hueman's living artwork. The mural was painted entirely in black and white, with the rest of the color added through projection mapping.
To enhance the animations, Winslow Studio created a 3D version of the face and mural elements, allowing for more precise lighting effects down to the details of eyelash shadows. Each scene of content was paired with a custom controller to allow manual triggering, and the permanent installation is programmed to turn on and off automatically at the start and end of each day.
Winslow Studio deployed this project remotely with Dr. Mabrie's team using Disguise One for pre-visualization. We built the office in 3D and tested a scaled-down version of the mural to create plans for a local integrator installed the projector, and Winslow used Lightform Creator's beta cloud tools to scan, place content, and publish updates remotely.
The final product is an exceptional piece of art that adds a new dimension to Hueman's work.
