Motila Blend

Ackley Beverage Group reached out to Winslow Studio for a project involving their newly established tasting room in McMinnville. They wanted to incorporate projection mapping to excite customers while educating them on the biodynamic winemaking process. We decided on a landscape vineyard mural that would showcase a looping day-to-night cycle, featuring farmers working in the vineyard, biodynamic elements, and special easter eggs.

To create this piece, we created a photo composition built of multiple Ackley Vineyards which was re-painted by illustrator Syd Weiler to create an original mural. Since the mural would come to life with colorful projections, we kept the final printed artwork a specific grayscale and pure white in areas that incorporated highly dynamic changes like the sky and water.

We built a complete 3D recreation of the scene in Blender to render an overlay of depth, simulated lighting, and realistic shadows during sunset, sunrise, and cast down as clouds pass by across rolling hills.

The mural was named "Motila Blend" after three vineyards; Montinore Estate, Tidalstar Vineyard, and Landlines Estates.
